“Is this a Mental Hygiene?”:

Understanding the Involuntary Commitment Process in West Virginia

FREE VIRTUAL TRAINING

When someone needs the support of involuntary hospitalization, it can be a frightening prospect. Given the legal and clinical complexities of this level of care, mental health providers and community members alike are often confused by when and how to file a mental hygiene. This session will provide a brief overview of involuntary commitment under the West Virginia state code and will attempt to demystify the process through practical examples and discussion. This training is not clinical in nature, but is recommended for a mixed audience of those working in the crisis care continuum, including but not limited to: peers, law enforcement officers, mobile crisis responders, other first responders, and behavioral health professionals.
