Thanks to the Nicholas County Sheriff's Department for hosting the "Combat Care and De-Escalation" training for first responders.
This course provided valuable instruction to strengthens officers' ability to respond effectively and safely during critical incidents.

Free CIT Training for 911 Dispatchers!
911 Dispatchers play a crucial role in connecting individuals to appropriate behavioral health services, such as crisis hotlines and mental healthcare providers when it is appropriate and safe to do so.
Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) certified Dispatchers are also better able to provide first responders essential information to ensure a safer and more effective response.
This 8-hour training will be held over two days:

KEVIN BRIGGS
“Guardian of the Golden Gate”
Kevin Briggs is a trained negotiator and mental health advocate whose story and experiences have been featured in various media outlets, including a TED Talk, The New Yorker, Men’s Health, and People Magazine. His book, “Guardian of the Golden Gate”, was released in July 2015.
A retired sergeant with the California Highway Patrol, Briggs spent many years patrolling the Golden Gate Bridge. Using compassion and listening skills, he helped several hundred individuals choose life. His challenging yet rewarding work earned him the nickname "Guardian of the Golden Gate."
